TEEN ANXIETY: Making sense of it to better accompany them

Monday May 2nd - 7:00-8:30PM

Presented by Catherine Korah, Guidance Counsellor

Complementary Services - Riverside School Board

* For those who cannot attend, a recording will be made available.

Humans have a built-in survival kit, which is meant to respond to perceived threats and keep us safe. Generally speaking, this response serves us quite well, especially when the threat is obvious and occasional. When our alarm system is working as it should it can be incredibly helpful to keep us safe, but what happens when the threat does not go away?

This session will explore the roots of anxiety and offer practical suggestions for how we can support teens to find emotional rest.

About the speaker: Catherine Korah is a Guidance Counsellor at the Riverside School Board and the co-coordinator of the Centre of Excellence for Behaviour Management. She has worked for over 15 years in a number of educational settings with students with challenging behaviours. Catherine is also a certified Psychotherapist from l'ordre des psychologues du Québec. Since 2007, she has been practicing family therapy as well as parent coaching.
